Course Overview
This e-learning course is designed for employees and managers who work with or handle diisocyanates and products containing them at concentrations of 0.1% by weight or higher. The training is relevant for personnel in construction, automotive, mechanical workshops, and industrial companies.
Course Content
The course covers three main areas in accordance with Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (Arbeidstilsynet) requirements:
Properties of Diisocyanates
Participants will learn about the chemistry of diisocyanates, their toxicity, and how they behave under different conditions.
Exposure Risks and Health Hazards
The course addresses various health risks associated with diisocyanate exposure, including different routes of entry into the body, occupational exposure limits, sensitization risks, and hazards specific to different work methods.
Risk-Reducing Measures
Participants will explore practical strategies for safe work, including proper ventilation systems, personal hygiene practices, appropriate protective equipment, management of spills and leaks, waste handling procedures, and systematic HSE (health, safety, and environment) work including chemical inventory management and risk assessments.
Course Format and Duration
The training comprises an e-learning module followed by a knowledge test. Completion of both components, which takes approximately 1.5 hours, results in a course certificate. Participants are also invited to attend a digital meeting with an expert for discussion and questions.
Important Notes
This Level 1 training must be renewed every five years. Employees with moderately to significantly elevated risk levels, or those with extended HSE responsibilities, may be required to complete advanced training at Levels 2 or 3, available through the course provider’s course overview.
