Course content
The course introduces relevant regulations and the overall regulatory framework, including the HSE legislation hierarchy and key regulations such as the Framework, Management, Facilities, Activity, and Technical/Operational regulations.
Participants gain an overview of NORSOK R-003N, including its structure, background, terminology, and the difference between normative and informative references. The course also explains how the standard is used within current regulations.
Key focus areas include safe use of lifting equipment, additional requirements in the standard, and the importance of roles, responsibilities and training requirements as described in the normative appendices.
The training also covers requirements for local procedures and the use of risk assessments in lifting operations. Practical guidance is given on how to access and apply regulations and standards effectively.
Experience sharing and group discussions are included to strengthen understanding and promote safe working practices.
Delivery
The course is delivered through classroom instruction, discussion and group work to ensure practical understanding of the standard and its application.
