Rigger Course – Module P-2.4, P-4.4

The course aims to provide future riggers with solid theoretical and practical knowledge for safe execution of rigging operations.

Target group

Personnel who will carry out rigging operations and require competence in safe use of rigging equipment and fall protection systems.

Prerequisites

Module 1 – Work environment, responsibilities and consequences
Module 2.3 – G11 lifting equipment
Basic fall protection in accordance with NS 9610 / NOROG guidelines

Course structure

Module P-2.4 – 16 hours theory
Module P-4.4 – 32 hours theory and practical training
Duration: 5 days

Content

Requirements in NORSOK R-003N
Use of hoists and simple lifting devices
Basic mechanics and load forces
Lifting and rigging equipment
Setup and pre-use inspections
Use of fall protection systems

The course also covers construction, function, use and maintenance of rigging equipment and transportable winches. Participants learn about inspection routines, required documentation and safe execution of rigging operations.

Focus is placed on correct use of fall protection, barriers and safe positioning, as well as understanding HSE requirements and risk assessments such as Safe Job Analysis (SJA).

Delivery

The training combines classroom instruction with practical exercises, ensuring both theoretical understanding and hands-on skills.

Outcome

Participants will be able to perform rigging operations safely, use relevant equipment correctly and understand requirements related to inspection, documentation and risk management.
